Thousands of runners, thousands of steps, one great symphony. This is the image behind The Running Symphony, the concept that will accompany the Termal Bologna Marathon 2027, taking place on Sunday, March 7, 2027.
The edition will be dedicated to music and its deep bond with running. Every athlete takes on the race at their own pace, listening to their breath and the cadence of their steps. But when thousands of people run together, those individual rhythms merge into something greater: an extraordinary collective symphony that flows through and involves the whole city.
Making the project even more meaningful is the partnership with the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, the event’s institutional partner. The Theatre will reopen its doors in mid-February, after a major restoration, returning to the heart of the city’s cultural life just a few weeks before the Marathon.
The meeting between the Bologna Marathon and the Teatro Comunale is a dialogue between two seemingly different worlds, united by rhythm, preparation, intensity and the ability to stir emotions. The streets of Bologna will become a great urban stage, with runners, volunteers and spectators as the performers of a work in constant motion.
The Running Symphony will be a tribute to the city, recognised by UNESCO as a Creative City of Music, and to its ability to bring together sport, art and participation.
On March 7, 2027, every runner will bring to Bologna their own story, their own goal and their own rhythm. Together, all those steps will create one unique, unforgettable symphony.
