Running is good, especially for charity.
RUN 5000 is a charity relay that will take place on the same day as the Bologna Marathon, March 5, 2023.
The Bologna Sport Marathon initiative in collaboration with the CSI Bologna, with Confcommercio Ascom Bologna, with the Federation of Third Sector Entities and with the support of Banca di Bologna and Coop Alleanza 3.0, intends to support a charity project that it involves many non-profit organizations in the city.
The relay, whose route is 5 kilometers + 5 kilometers to be covered in teams of four people, was joined by A.I.A.S. Bologna Onlus, Fanep Odv, Policlinico Sant'Orsola Onlus Foundation, AIRC Foundation for cancer research, Face Foundation Italy, Dopo di Noi Onlus Foundation, Ant Italia Onlus Foundation, Susan G. Komen Italy, Opimm Foundation (Opera dell'immacolata Onlus ), L'Aliante Association, Amaci Odv, Ageop Research Odv, Ail Bologna Odv, Angsa Bologna, Loto Onlus.
«We welcomed with conviction the initiative organized by the Third Sector Entities which, with their Run5000, are launching a message of inclusion and solidarity to which the whole city has responded present - explains Giancarlo Tonelli, General Manager of Confcommercio Ascom Bologna -. Our thanks go to all those realities that with tenacity and determination, overcoming every difficulty, help those in situations of fragility. Joining the Run5000 is an opportunity to reciprocate what the realities that make up the world of the Third Sector do every day».
"The Run5000 is an important event because it also brings with it that social dimension that characterizes the Bolognese sports world as a whole, I thank Ascom for bringing together the third sector entities for a great moment of solidarity", comments Roberta Li Calzi, councilor for Sport and the Budget of the Municipality of Bologna.
«As Bologna Sport Marathon we strongly wanted this relay because we believe that the purpose of a sporting event is also to generate solidarity and give support to those who dedicate themselves to others - says Teresa Lopilato, president of Bologna Marathon -. We are confident that Run5000 will grow over time thanks to the enthusiasm and commitment of the numerous Third Sector Entities who are doing their utmost to create this first edition».
The Run5000 ribbon cutting will start from the crossroads between via Rizzoli and via Indipendenza, continuing towards via Irnerio up to Porta San Donato. The participants will then take via Zamboni, via Petroni, Piazza Aldrovandi, Strada Maggiore and via Fondazza. The last stretch includes the passage in via Santo Stefano, via Farini and via Castiglione to then finally return to via Rizzoli, where the relay will change.

This Run5000 is a metaphor for the daily life of every Third Sector entity, because it teaches us that no one can win alone, but that by joining everyone's forces we can reach the finish line - continues Nicola Turrini, president of the Third Sector Federation Confcommercio Ascom Bologna -. I am thinking of the volunteers, the supporters, those who dedicate their time to carry on the activities of the Institutions: my admiration and my gratitude go to all of them. I thank all the institutions that have decided to participate in this first edition of Run5000 with their teams, whose registration fees will go to support the institutions themselves. I thank Confcommercio Ascom Bologna and the Bologna Marathon for their collaboration and the Municipality of Bologna for their sensitivity and support. I am sure that March 5 will be a beautiful day of sport and solidarity».
Adults and children, including those with disabilities, can register for Run5000 by contacting one of the organizations participating in the initiative. To participate, registrations expire on Friday 24 February (info on www.bolognamarathon.run), a team of four people must be formed. The participation fee will act as a donation for the chosen institution. Each participant will be provided with a t-shirt and a personalized bib with the logo of the race, thanks to an exceptional supporter such as Banca di Bologna, while Coop Alleanza 3.0 will enrich the goodie bag and the final refreshment of the participants with products Co-op brand.
