Since its inception, the Bologna Marathon project has always paid great attention to environmental sustainability, developing numerous concrete initiatives such as the collection of sweatshirts at the start, intended to be reused, and the creation of a “green team” dedicated to optimizing the separate collection of waste that is inevitably produced in events of this size.

For the 2025 edition, scheduled from February 28 to March 2, Bologna Marathon will take an important further step in this direction, thanks to the collaboration with Culligan, a global leader in water filtration systems, which recently chose the Emilian capital as its headquarters in Italy.

The aim of the organizers, together with Culligan, the new Official Water of the Event, is to demonstrate how it is possible to adopt sustainable choices even during large sporting events. Thanks to the introduction of alternative solutions to the use of single-use plastic bottles and the active involvement of over 10,000 expected athletes, the initiative aims to raise public awareness of the importance of eco-responsible behavior even in highly relevant contexts such as city marathons.
