The results of the Termal Bologna Marathon 2025

It’s a celebration for 10,000! Kenyan Martin Cheruiyot sets the marathon record, Giorgia Venturi wins with a personal best. Federica Cicognani repeats in the 30 km dei Portici, for the men Davide Parisi is the king. In the 21 km Run Tune Up victory for Ricciardi and Accorsi who shatter the race record. Silvio Licastro and Cristina Gogna win the Italian championship for the deaf in the 30 km FSSI.

 The sun caressed the Termal Bologna Marathon illuminating the smiles of the 10,000 athletes engaged in the five distances throughout the weekend, a day full of emotions that also celebrated the men's race record in the marathon, the men's and women's records of the 21 km Run Tune Up course, and the men's record on the 30 km dei Portici course.

The results of the Termal Bologna Marathon

Men's race report
The first passage at km 7.5 sees Israeli Dvir Yossi in the lead with a time of 20’56” followed by Kenyans Martin Cheruiyot and Enos Kales Kakopil, respectively in 22’30” and 22’49”. The first national representative Alessio Milani in 24’45”. At km 13, Cheruiyot leads in 39’58” with Kakopil in 41’09” and Riccardo Vanetti in 44’10”. A solitary passage for Martin Cheruiyot at km 24 in 1h17’00” who arrives at the finish line after a solo performance that, with a time of 2h21’55”, sets the race record, shaving off almost 30” from the previous record held by his compatriot Simon Kamau Njeri who had it with 2h22’28” from last year.

“I immediately pressed the accelerator to gain some advantage, I knew the course wasn’t easy. Fortunately, the weather was ideal,” said the winner. “I found myself alone, I’m happy with how I ran the race,” concluded Cheruiyot.

After the 34° km, Alessio Milani (Atl. Monfalcone) stepped on the gas to finish in second place overall in 2h28’22”, leaving Kenyan Enos Kales Kakopil the lowest step of the podium in 2h29’12”.

Women's race report

For the women, it’s Giorgia Venturi who passes in 29’03” followed by Finnish Jutta Paajamaa and Lithuanian Neringa Cobb, respectively in 30’18” and 30’19”. Race head frozen at km 13, Venturi in 51’09”, Paajamaa in 53’24” and Cobb in 53’29”. Still in the lead Giorgia Venturi (Pod. Ozzanese) who significantly improves her personal record and climbs to the highest step of the podium finishing in 2h53’02” with great enthusiasm.
“I hoped to improve my personal record, and here I am, at the finish line as the winner,” said the winner, a nurse in her daily life. “I always ran alone, I’m so happy.” Second place for Arianna Castellan (Ass. Atl. N.E.VI) in 3h10’42”, third the Pole Paulina Sienkiewicz Gadzikowska in 3h11’13”

The results of the 21 km Run Tune Up

Men's race report
First passage for Luis Matteo Ricciardi (Asd Dinamo Running) in 40’47” at the 13° km, immediately followed by Dane Gustav Krøll in 40’52” and Spaniard Felipe Gomez Severino in 42’00”. The race remains unchanged at km 18 with Ricciardi leading in 56’36”, Krøll in 56’57” and Severino in 58’37”
Victory for Luis Matteo Ricciardi (Asd Dinamo Running) who with a time of 1h06’35” shatters the race record, previously held by Francesco Mariani with 1h08’17” in 2024, and also achieves his personal best. Honorary place for Spaniard Felipe Gomez Severino in 1h08’54” and third place for Johannes Tegner (Ak Maximir Zagreb) 1h10’41”

Women's race report
At km 13, in the women's category, Marika Accorsi passes in 46’30” followed by Ethiopian Asmerawork Wolkeba Bekele in 46’35” and teammate Giulia Vettor in 47’50”

Positions frozen at the finish line, where Marika Accorsi (CUS Parma) creates a gap and shatters the race record, previously held by Rosa Alfieri from 2024 who had run in 1h24’21”, finishing in 1h15’50”. “I’m very excited to have run on this beautiful course, it was my first participation in this race, I’m really happy and it’s a good test in view of the Italian cross championships,” said the winner. Honorary place for Ethiopian Asmerawork Wolkeba Bekele who arrives late in 1h18’15” with Giulia Vettor (CUS Parma), third overall, on her heels, in 1h18’28”

Also present were the Sports Councillor of the Municipality of Bologna Roberta Li Calzi (Lolli Auto Asd) and the Councillor for Tourism, Commerce and Sport of the Emilia-Romagna Region Roberta Frisoni (Rimini Marathon Unstoppable), both at the finish line in 1h56’51”

“I’m very happy, also to have completed my race in less than two hours, a good time for someone like me who juggles running among a thousand commitments. For me, running a well-organized event in my city, gathering enthusiastic comments from people coming from all over Italy and the world, happy to have enjoyed the routes in the city center, the hospitality, and our good food is a great privilege,” commented Councillor Li Calzi.

The results of the 30 km dei Portici

Men's race report
Lead group at km 7.5 with Gianluca Scardovi (Runcard) in 24’22, Davide Parisi and Elia Generali in 24’32”. At km 13 the lead group consists of Scardovi, Parisi, and Generali, all in 43’49”. Victory in 1h44’48” for Davide Parisi (Lagarina Crus Team) who changes pace and leaves everyone behind, also breaking the race record of 1h47’57” held by Daniele Lanza from the last edition.

“I ran in a group until about the 25th, then I stretched out. The course requires muscular effort but is very beautiful and I appreciated the warm cheering, I will return. I chose to participate in preparation for my debut in the queen distance,” commented the winner.

Second place on the podium for Elia Generali (SSDRL Cinque Cerchi) in 1h45’22”, podium completed by Ferdinando Chimenz (DK Runners) in 1h46’27”

Women's race report
Leading female at the first passage is Federica Cicognani in 28’28”, just a few seconds ahead of Sara Boer in 28’38” closely followed by Cristina Gogna (Atl. Verbano) in 29’04”. Cicognani still leads at km 13 with 50’25” followed by Boer in 51’14” while Camilla Vittori Venenti rises to third position in 51’48”

A repeat for Federica Cicognani (Atl Imola Sacmi Avis) who improves her time on this course by over 5’ stopping the clock at 2h01’06”. “I’m so happy, it was a beautiful day, Bologna for me is a fixed stop also thanks to the enthusiastic cheering,” said the winner. Behind her Sara Boer (Asd KM Sport) in 2h03’11” who ran with the breath of Camilla Vittori Venenti (Runners Bergamo), third in 2h03’29”

Italian Championship Federation of Sports for the Deaf Italy (FSSI)

The Italian Championship Federation of Sports for the Deaf Italy (FSSI) was also held over the distance of 30 km. Victory for Silvio Licastro (Cosenza K42) in 1h50’43” followed by Alessandro Vizzini (Asd Pachino Running) with a time of 1h55’04” and Giorgio Battistello (Asd Runners Valcalepio) in 2h223’59”

In the women's category, as predicted, victory for Cristina Gogna (Atl. Verbano) in 2h05’53” who precedes Chiara Sparviero (Sisport SSD) in 2h24’33” with a large advantage over Rosa Larocca (Violettaclub) in 2h48’36”  

Tecnocasa Bologna City Run 5 km

Great celebration with 3,000 attendees, many Bolognese at the Tecnocasa Bologna City Run 5 km. Among the participants, Gianni Morandi in the company of singer-songwriter Alessandro Maraniello and the friend of many adventures, former blue marathon runner Laura Fogli.

Saturday, March 1, Tigotà KIDS Marathon

Hundreds of children showed their courage challenging a few drops of rain and
transforming Piazza Maggiore into the stage of fun branded Tigotà KIDS Marathon, where many initiatives were designed to engage the little ones.

“A historic fourth edition full of strong emotions that made the city of Bologna great. Many course records as well as many participants from all over Italy and the world. A colorful and smiling river of athletes illuminated by a beautiful sunny day in which important themes such as sustainability, solidarity, and sociality won. I thank all the institutions and organizations that collaborated, the partners, and the 500 volunteers, the true soul and face of the event. The success of the Termal Bologna Marathon is the result of great teamwork,” said Teresa Lopilato, President of Bologna Sport Marathon.
